June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Samuels Yoelin Kantor LLP

June 15, 2013 is the annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, as designated by the United Nations.

“The day aims to focus global attention on the problem of physical, emotional, and financial abuse of elders. It also seeks to understand the challenges and opportunities presented by an aging population, and brings together senior citizens, and their caregivers, national and local government, academics, and the private sector to exchange ideas about how best to reduce incidents of violence towards elders, increase reporting of such abuse, and to develop elder friendly policies.”

Banks Law Office commends those working toward these goals and caring for their elder family members and friends, a task that can sometimes be not know-ably difficult. We wish all the older people in our own lives good health, happiness, and security.
